A Message From Chastin Anderson:

It has been 11 years since my cousins Morgan, Allison and Mason were diagnosed with cystic fibrosis. Since that time, so much has changed, and research is making Morgan, Allison and Mason’s futures look brighter than ever. Several medications have progressed to Phase 3 clinical trials and nearly 30 medications are in the cystic fibrosis research pipeline today. Of these, 3 or 4 could PROFOUNDLY affect 90-95% of cystic fibrosis patients.

What does that mean? It means that cystic fibrosis could become a disease that people live with, not die from in their 30’s.

Today, my cousins cough more than they did a year ago. And more digestive issues require more vigilance with treatments to maintain their health. Fortunately, these kiddos take it all in stride and continue to enjoy life to the fullest. They will continue to fight this disease through hours of treatments and dozens of medications. And if they stay healthy enough, they will hopefully be able to receive treatments and new therapies as they become available.

In order for progress to be made, research and care centers need funding. This is where Great Strides comes in. Great Strides is the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation's largest and most successful national fund-raising event. This year, I'm walking in the Great Strides walk on May 14th, 2011 in honor of my cousins. Any donation would be greatly appreciated and used efficiently and effectively, as more than $.90 out of every dollar you contribute will be used to fund the vital programs of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.

On behalf of my family, I thank you in advance for giving us more tomorrows with Morgan, Allison and Mason. As money buys science, and science extends the minutes, months and years in the lives of cystic fibrosis patients.
